September brings an assembly of The Corporate Finance Network member firms to Cambridge for the National Conference.

Described as the ‘City of Perspiring Dreams’, (as opposed to Oxford’s “city of dreaming spires”), it suggests Cambridge is more focused on hard work and practicalities, rather than idealistic visions. And as the sons & daughters of Cambridge include Isaac Newton, Stephen Hawking, Charles Darwin, Alan Turing and Rosalind Franklin, it has a rich history of being at the centre of major historic advancements.

But also today, the city is the focus a thriving technology cluster, often referred to as “Silicon Fen”.  The university is part of a pioneering collaboration with Manchester to harness the combined strengths of both universities and cities. The Government has also announced a commitment to unlock the potential of the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor, with investment in infrastructure as part of the UK’s growth mission and industrial strategy.

The theme of this conference programme will be around innovation and the future generations of business owners with topics including from speakers covering the services available from UKRI/Innovate UK, a review of current issues around Intellectual Property, valuation technicalities and discussions of market trends from Kroll, Capitalise and representatives from the ETA/searcher ecosystem.

Kirsty McGregor, Chairman and Founder of The CFN, commented “I am delighted to be bringing our conference to this beautiful city.   I am very much looking forward to delivering an inspiring programme to our member firms, to ensure they keep up to date and return to their offices with renewed energy and ideas to support their owner managed businesses, with their growth objectives, and ultimately to ensure a healthy exit from their companies.”

The conference will take place at Hilton Graduate Cambridge on 23rd-24th September 2025.
