Albert Goodman, a member of the Corporate Finance Network based in South West England with six offices, has provided buy-side financial and tax due diligence. The assignment supported Atrato Onsite Energy’s £46.2m acquisition of two 50MW Solar PV sites from NextEnergy Solar.

Matthew Chandler led the assignment for Albert Goodman, supporting the acquirer on an expedited timescale. The transaction involved the acquisition of three companies connected to two 50MW Solar PV sites, including an associated agent company linked to a virtual power purchase agreement (‘VPPA’).

The VPPA, contract for difference and associated agent company created additional accounting and tax complexity. Albert Goodman reviewed the commercial and technical implications of the arrangements, including the accounting treatment between the target companies and VAT considerations involving both UK and overseas parties.

The team also provided bespoke advice during periods of renegotiation and advised on the accounting and tax elements of the SPA, including key departures or inconsistencies which could affect the acquirer post-acquisition.

The transaction completed successfully in March 2026.
